Lost Nation Booster Club was established in February of 1952. Its stated purpose is to support projects for the betterment of the community.
The Lost Nation Booster Club in Our Community
In February 1952, a group of men who evidently belonged to the Commercial Club decided to begin this new organization. Articles of Incorporation were approved in August. The first trustees were Paul Seng, Ward Hollingsworth, Kenneth Guyer, Clem McAndrew, and George Dobling.
Some of the first projects suggested were: a tennis court, flooding the ball park for winter skating, starting small industry in Lost Nation, a place for garbage disposal, a 4-H Show, a Band Wagon, paving of 136 instead of black topping, the combination sale, a Christmas Party, transportation for swimmers to Maquoketa, school crossing lights at three locations for safety, etc.
Through the years the Booster Club's leadership has changed and now women belong in large numbers.
|
| The organization has been a supporter of Gilroy Rustic Park and the Town of Lost Nation. |
 |
| Projects today include helping organize Rustic Days, sponsoring the Soup Supper which helps support The Community Scoop, promoting town-wide garage sales, helping promote the Business Association's town drawing, visits to Lost Nation by Santa Claus, and helping in other ways to encourage the citizens of Lost Nation to be proud of their community. |
